Former MDC legislator for Bulawayo South, Eddie Cross has said that Zimbabwe needs to come up with a clear vision for it to come out of its economic doldrums.
He made reference to a number of now perceived great nations to demonstrate how powerful a vision is in the transformation of communities.
The economist noted that the United States of America, China and Singapore used to be nothing with their citizens living in abject poverty.
The mentioned countries are now considered advanced and big on both the geopolitical and geoeconomic arenas. For Cross, it is because of the clear vision the fathers of those countries designed which propelled those nations to greater heights.
He noted that a clear vision was the missing link for Zimbabwe. He noted that there is individualism and no national vision which guides the conduct of citizens. Cross said:
Here in Zimbabwe, we have no such consensus, “what is in it for me”, dominates and the retention of power is the overwhelming priority; not what we do with the power we have, even for a short while. We have created a monster, one that does not care about the poor; who are simply used as democratic ammunition.
He noted that transforming this country into a better habitable society demands leadership that is selfless who put national interests before personal interests.
Cross observed that whilst a few individuals were filthy rich other citizens are in extreme poverty.

Yes, Cross is partially plausible. But he does not refer to our Nehanda -Mzilikazi economy , Rhodesian economy and only touches on our Zimbabwean economy since 1980. The Zim economy is 39 years old . We have problems and our slow learning curve, but I believe also that we are beginning to shape our vision under the new dispensation, without slave labor and colonial looting which assisted some of the economies Cross is singing. Cross should know that there was no way we could move forward without addressing the land issue, which we did , though with some weaknesses which will be corrected. The Chinese did not correct their economy in just 39 years. They don`t have political disruptions from so called multi party democracy. In short , we are also going to rise like China or Rwanda. Cross enjoyed colonial Rhodesia economy that catered for Boers with “natives“ at the margin.!
@Muzvinavanhu ,Zim rising with Zanu pf in power? usanyebera vanhu iwewe 😮
Mr anonymous, what are your views. Ndanyepa papiko? Why does your cross Cross not condemn sanctions supported by MDCA, which continue to contribute to our economic suffocation, by denying our companies normal business credit lines?
