ZIFA Dissolves Warriors Team, Bans Chiyangwa For Life

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA), has disbanded the entire national men’s team from the technical to the players.

Following ZIFA’s Executive Meeting held in the Capital on Wednesday, the association said that the reason for dissolving the entire team is the need for reconstruction.

The decision is in line with recommendations from the Technical and Development Committee.

The football body also resolved to overlook for selection, players whose desire to play for the national team is questionable.

A new technical set-up will be announced in due course.

Zifa has also handed life bans to former president Philip Chiyangwa and his assistant Omega Sibanda.

The duo is accused of bringing local football into disrepute through the 2019 COSAFA Cup bid fiasco which saw the Warriors banned from next year’s edition.
