"Underhand Activities Disguised As Peaceful Demonstrations Taking Place" - Home Affairs Minister

The minister of Home Affairs, Cain Mathema has said that some underhand activities by the MDC are taking place under the guise of a peaceful demonstration planned for the 16th of December.

A report on ZBC suggests says the minister said NGOs and some foreigners disguised as tourists are part of the underhanded activities that the government is aware of.

The MDC announced plans to hold peaceful demonstrations on the 16th of December and have applied for permission to do so from the police. According to the police, the permission has not been given yet.

The ZBC report quotes Mathema:

“While government is fully aware and recognises Sections 58 and 59 of the Constitution which give citizens freedom of assembly, association and freedom to demonstrate and petition, the situation on the ground indicates that a lot of underhand activities under the guise of peaceful demonstrations are taking place,”
