“Official Response On 16 August Demo Is Yet To Be Given To The MDC” – POLICE

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has said that they are yet to give an official response to the MDC which applied to have a demonstration on the 16th of August. Posting on microblogging site, Twitter, ZRP said:

The ZRP acknowledges receipt of MDC A notification on the intended demonstration on 16/8/19, however, the Police reiterates that considerations are still being made on the notification and the official response is yet to be given to the concerned convener.@ZBCNewsonline

The MDC cited socio-economic issues bedevilling the country as the motivation behind the protests.

Some of the mentioned issues are fuel shortages, cash shortages, power cuts, inflation, paltry remuneration for workers and the deteriorating democratic space.

The opposition party attributes all the above and other unmentioned issues to mismanagement by the ruling ZANU PF.
