Obert Mpofu Challenges Accusers To Bring Evidence He's Corrupt

Former Mines Minister and current Zanu PF secretary for administration, Obert Mpofu, on Monday, dismissed reports that he had been arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC).

Mpofu told ZimLive.com by phone that he was in his office and waiting for ZACC officials if they intended to arrest him. He said:

I’ve not been arrested, in fact, I’ve never spoken to anyone from ZACC in my life and they haven’t told me they’re arresting me.

If they’re on their way to arrest me, then I’m waiting for them. I’ve never stolen from anyone and suggestions that I’m corrupt are nonsense; it’s rubbish.

Some desperate people are trying to implicate me in these silly things. I’ve nothing to hide from anyone.

I’m concentrating on my life and right now I’m in my office doing party work. All those who believe that I stole from anyone please bring the evidence.

Mpofu is one of the political bigwigs identified as corrupted in a list released by the ZANU PF Youth League last month.

Prisca Mupfumira, the Minister of Tourism was named among the “economic saboteurs” and was arrested last week on Thursday and charged with corruption involving US$95 million from the state pension fund, NSSA.
