Kambuzuma MP Requests Chiwenga Or Mohadi To Explain Electricity Crisis

An MDC Alliance MP on Tuesday demanded that Vice President Constantino Chiwenga or his counterpart Kembo Mohadi come to Parliament to explain the current electricity shortage obtaining in the country.

Willias Madzimure (Kambuzuma) said that the Vice President should explain whether the government has failed to deal with the crisis. He said:

The issue of electricity cuts has gone to a serious level and people are now mugged in the industries while going or coming from work because it will be dark and there have been a lot of deaths due to use of gas, (while) the prices of gas are very high.

It is common knowledge that there will not be inflows of water to Kariba Dam and can one of the VPs come and address this House to inform the nation on whether the government has failed to solve this problem.

In response to Madzimure, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Tsitsi Gezi, said that the Minister of Energy and Power Development, Fortune Chasi had already issued a ministerial statement on the electricity situation.
