JUST IN: Price Of Diesel Hiked To ZWL$7.19 & Petrol To ZWL$7.47

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has hiked the price of fuel yet again with effect from Monday 22 July 2017.

The price of diesel has been raised to ZWL$7.19 while that of petrol has been increased to ZWL$7.47.

This is the second time the prices of fuel have been hiked in the past 10 days and confirms remarks made by Finance and Economic Development Minister Mthuli Ncube recently that the increase will not be knee-jerk but gradual.

  1. Do they say we have to commit suicide, sure. Why blaming private sector 4 increasing prices when you are tampering with the major price driver.NCUBE RESIGN FOR THE COUNTRY TO REST

  2. Where is ED and his “shamhu ine munyu yakayanikwa pazuva”? To increase fuel prices and then expect other prices not to increase is the height of insanity. What is Mthuli smoking that makes him blind to common sense?

  3. This is quite simple.
Nearly all your commodities are coming from South or abroad.
So if you want import you need export.
So when your dictators are spending money on luxurious trips, extravagant cars, jets etc. there’s less money for commodities.
If you want a currency it needs to be backed up by the National Bank, balance in economy otherwise it’s worthless. In the past the paper money was backed up by gold the amount money was printed. Your National Bank has nothing to back up you currency.
So all you ZIM bonds, ZIM $ whatever they might print is and will be useless as no other country will accept them because they only have the value of the paper they are printed on.
