Depressed Security Guard Kills Self After Going For 4 Months Without Pay
A security guard shot and killed himself in Bulawayo on Monday. The deceased worked for a Bulawayo company and was stationed at the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) offices in the city centre.
The man, identified as Amos Mboni, had reportedly gone for four months without being paid.
He shot himself three times using his employer’s service gun and died on the spot.
The incident was confirmed by Bulawayo acting police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube. He said:
The deceased was employed by a security company and when he arrived at his workplace at 6 AM, he was handed a revolver by his colleagues who were knocking off from duty.

… The victim had shot himself three times. Two times on the left nipple while the third shot hit his collar bone. He died on the spot.
The deceased’s daughter spoke to the Chronicle and revealed that her father was very depressed. She said:
It’s so unbelievable that my father shot himself. My father left home depressed because he had not been paid for almost four months at his workplace.
I was the one who was now working and fending for the family and it was stressing him. The landlord would ask him for money for rent every day but he didn’t have it.
However, the late security guard’s sister claimed that there was foul play. She queried how possible is it for a person to shoot himself three times.
