CHAMISA: We’ve Learnt Some Lessons In The Rural Areas

Opposition MDC leader, advocate Nelson Chamisa has said that his party has learnt some lessons from the recently held Nyanga South and Bikita East Wards by-elections.

His remarks come after the ruling ZANU PF has won both posts.

Chamisa was responding to one of his followers who wanted to know why the party performed below the bar. The follower, Martin Takawira, had said:

Why did the party get poor results in the latest by-elections? Where you expecting these results? How do you reconcile the rally attendance ( job sikhala ) to these poor results?

To these questions, Chamisa responded assuring his supporters that the mistakes will be corrected soon. He tweeted:

We have learnt some lessons on decision making in the rural areas. We hope to correct soonest

Some may view his remarks as contradicting those of the party Secretary for Elections, advocate Jacob Mafume, who dismissed the by-elections results saying that there were numerous irregularities.

Mafume argued that the arrest of MDC national vice-chairperson, advocate Job Sikhala, a few days before the elections was a premeditated move to intimidate the electorate. Sikhala was arrested and charged with subversion of a constitutionally elected government after he had remarked that his party would overthrow president Mnangagwa before 2023.

Mafume also gave the example of a request that was made by ZANU PF political Commissar, Mr Victor Matemadanda, to Health Minister, Dr Obadiah Moyo, to direct NatPharm to supply medical institutions in Lupane with medicines ahead of by-elections as constituting vote buying.

  1. You were just smartly sorted out.The supply of medicine is gvt duty and has nothing to do with mdc dismal failure .mdc can only achieve better if it abandons election results mode and joins zanu in working 4 ppl rather than partaking a daily routine of attacking zanu on every move it makes

  2. What is ZANU doing for people?
I have never seen anything they have done.
They only control resources which they use to manipulate the electorate
Poor Obadiah should be a candidate for ZACC.
