Parents Unhappy With Situation At Allan Wilson Boys High School
Parents with children enrolled at Allan Wilson Boys’ High School in Harare are reported to be unhappy with the state of affairs at the learning institution.
Concerned parents on Wednesday held a meeting with the school headmaster on challenges bedevilling the school where they expressed their frustrations.
One of the parents who spoke to H-Metro on condition of anonymity said:
We send our children to school for excellent results but how can children excel when they are not learning due to a shortage of materials whilst we are paying huge amounts of money.
The school science laboratories have no instruments required for practicals to take place and examinations are around the corner; it’s very unfair for the children.

The headmaster has to step and act before it is too late because as parents we are not even impressed by the whole situation, something has to be done.
A science teacher at the school, Mrs Sibanda, told the publication that she has no power over the situation after parents complained over the unavailability of instruments in the school laboratory. She said:
As a teacher, I am very worried because it will backfire to me when we don’t produce good results in the end.
How can students have practicals when they don’t even have any simple lab apparatus to conduct them?
I am just teaching theories but it is not working at all because with our new curriculum after every theory a practical has to be done in order to make students understand what they are being taught.
I am pleading with the Government and the Ministry to step up when it comes to matters at this school because its standards are deteriorating daily.
The students at Allan Wilson High recently staged a demonstration, calling for the school head to be transferred as they are not happy with the state of affairs at the school.
The protest follows another one held by pupils at Mabereign Girls High School recently where the pupils were also demanding that the school head should leave the school over a number of grievances.
