President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said that the introduction of the Zimbabwean dollar will return the country to normalcy.
He also said that Zimbabwe had the ‘abnormal’ status by operating without its own currency.
His remarks come after the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe introduced Statutory Instrument 142 of 2019 which outlaws the use of all foreign currencies for domestic transactions.
The SI also reintroduce the Zimbabwean dollar.
Mnangagwa said that his remarks weeks ago were indicative of what was coming. He also revealed that the SI does not ban possession of foreign currency. Watch the ZBC video for more.
