1 Killed, 4 Injured At Metallon Gold's How Mine

One employee was killed while 4 others were injured in an accident at How Mine resulting in the closure of the North Shaft.

How Mine is operated by Metallon Gold. In a statement, the company said:

We regret to advise of an accident at Bulawayo Mining Company’s How Mine that occurred on Thursday 20th June.

A rockfall during shaft examination on the North Shaft resulted in the death of an employee and the injury of four workers.

The injured personnel are receiving appropriate medical care. Operations at the North Shaft have been suspended pending a thorough investigation into the tragedy.

Reports indicate that cases of mine-related accidents have surged over the past half year with most of the incidents involving artisanal miners at disused mines.
