BBC News Accused Of Racism In AFCON Tweet
BBC News (UK) has posted a tweet that has caused commotion on social media with some saying that it qualifies as a racist tweet. The tweet which reads “Afcon 2019: Meet the ‘animals’ competing for the Africa Cup of Nations” was accompanied by several animals each participating African country associates with.
Others felt the tweet “looked wrong” and also “sounded wrong” hence the need to take it down immediately. See the full text below.

Others, however, found nothing wrong with the tweet which they said reiterated eponyms after which the African countries participating at the 2019 Afcon finals call themselves with. One twitter post read:
Only Zimbabwe, Egypt and South aFrica have no animal connotation, thus Moseph Enike was by and large spot on. He did not invent the nicknaams: We christened ourseleves for good measure. Reminds me of Mheekiya who bashed folks with martial arts 4 calling him Mhekkiya on ze streets
