Former Liverpool & Chelsea Player, Fernando Torres Has Retired

Former Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, and Chelsea forward Fernando Torres has announced his retirement from football at the age of 35.

The Spaniard was most recently playing for Japanese club Sagan Tosu. He was coming from his childhood club, Atletico Madrid where he was affectionately referred to as ‘El Nino’ – ‘The Kid’, due to his boyish looks and early start in the team, for whom he made his debut at the age of 17.

He also contributed immensely to Spain winning Euro 2008 and the World Cup two years later.

In January of 2011, he joined Chelsea for a record £50 million but was not a regular due to injuries. He was, however, part of the Chelsea team that won the 2012 Champions League. He later joined Milan briefly before rejoining Atletico.

Posting on Twitter on today, Torres said:
