Motorists Suspect Fraud As Harare's City Parking Stops Issuing Tickets For $1
Harare City Council’s parking division, City Parking, is reportedly no longer issuing parking tickets for $1. Many motorists have suspect fraud since parking marshalls with the business unit have only been issuing the $2 invoices.
The parking business in April this year increased their tariffs to $2 per hour from $1, citing the deterioration of the country’s economy. One motorist said:
When you want to only pay for 30 minutes, the attendants tell you that it is no longer available despite all their signs stating otherwise. City Parking should address this situation fast.
FeedbackCity Parking raised its tariffs claiming that all their suppliers of items such as till rolls, uniforms, fuel, clamps, insurance, and parking equipment had increased the costs of their stocks due to inflation.
They argue that raising tariffs was meant to recoup costs incurred so as to keep the business running.
