ED Tells Chamisa Not To Think Highly Of Himself

President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Friday castigated MDC leader Nelson Chamisa for refusing to participate in the so-called State House Dialogue.

President Mnangagwa said that he can not force Chamisa to come to the negotiating table and reminded the latter that he is not special. He said:

I cannot get a bulldozer or a tractor to pull him out of his house for talks. I have made a call to all political parties in Zimbabwe that lets us come together. Is he not a leader of a political party in Zimbabwe?

I think he is. Then why does not he come to the table where everybody else? Why should he feel proud that all 19 political parties are not important but only him?

… In my view, I think every political party is important. Why does he feel that his party is important than all 19 parties that have so far engaged in the dialogue?

President Mnangagwa revealed that he will create other non-political platforms to engage with the youths and with churches. He added:

We will continue to engage and will create equal platforms for the church and youth.

All those who want to share their views, come let us discuss the table is open. There must not be sacred cows who think they are better than others. We are all Zimbabweans, let us come and settle together.

Chamisa has hitherto refused to accept Mnangagwa as Zimbabwe’s legitimate President as he insists that the July 2018 elections were rigged by electoral authorities to favour the incumbent.
