ZANU PF MP Says Chamisa Is Part Of The Solution

Zanu PF Member of Parliament for Gokwe Nembudziya Justice Mayor Wadyajena has called for dialogue between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and MDC leader Nelson Chamisa, saying that solutions would require unity.

Wadyajena made the remarks on his Twitter handle yesterday where he suggested that the country was on a recovering path. He said:

Things are getting stranger by the day and we’re starting to normalise the abnormal. Solutions require unity of purpose and political actors including @nelsonchamisa to work for good. Yes, clean money doesn’t follow corruption but it also doesn’t follow violence, riots or instability.

These remarks were also echoed by Zanu PF’s youth league boss Pupurai Togarepi who further made it clear that the legitimacy issue would not be discussed. Togarepi said:

Negotiation a big No, Dialogue yes, let’s talk but not trying to sneak in some amorphous arrangement. Let Biti and company know that we will not accept any undemocratic tendencies to go unchallenged. Any dream of some power sharing arrangement to accommodate losers is undemocratic.

These remarks are a reminiscence of sentiments by various individuals and groups who have been calling for the two major parties to set differences aside. A statement by female clerics from 28 groups who met in Mabvuku last week also called for a dialogue between Mnangagwa and Chamisa. It read:

May the suffering of the people not be exploited for political power, and instead let the welfare of Zimbabweans bring Mnangagwa and Chamisa together.
