Parliament To Punish Cabinet Ministers Who Shun Question Time

Parliament will whip into line cabinet ministers who miss Wednesday’s question and answer sessions from the House without seeking leave of absence.

This was revealed by Speaker of the National Assembly Advocate Jacob Mudenda before the commencement of business on Wednesday. He said:

I ask the clerks to take note of those ministers who are absent without leave of absence and we will charge them accordingly.

Members of Parliament have in the past voiced their disapproval over cabinet ministers’ failure appear during question time.

Mudenda said that Parliament will invoke provisions of Parliament’s Standing Orders to deal with the problem.
