Madinda Happy To Finally Break The Jinx After Dismissing TelOne

Highlanders Coach Madinda Ndlovu was happy that his club broke the jinx to win a football match for the first time this season at the ninth attempt after despatching TelOne 1-0 at Babourfields Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Highlanders toiled against the well-organised Gweru-based side and were happy to take all three points after midfielder Ray “Ndorindori” Lunga scored in the first half. Said Ndlovu:

Today’s football wasn’t better than our previous displays, but luck was on our side.

What was important was to collect three points today. TelOne played more meaningful football than us but were let down by poor finishing.

Our game plan was all about pace, stretch them on the wings, with Ray Lunga and Cleopas Kapupurika. I’m just happy that we broke the jinx.

TelOne coach Jairos Tapera, unlike Madinda Ndlovu who was happy with the win but nonplussed with the performance, said:

We played a desperate and dangerous Highlanders, who punished us for the mistake we made. I think we did well and played excellent football. I am sad about the result, but happy with the performance.
