Govt Investigating Top Gynaecologist Over Death Of Health Director
A top gynaecologist (name withheld) is being investigated in connection with the death of Dr Mandy Sibanda, the oral health director in the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
It is reported that Dr Sibanda died following a surgical operation by the gynaecologist in question. It is also alleged that there are several other people who were also affected by the gynaecologist’s negligence during the discarge of her duties.
Ministry of Health and Child Care, family health director Dr Bernard Madzima confirmed they were seized with the matter. Madzima said that the Ministry had received a post-mortem report and has since handed it over to a team of experts. He said:
We are now doing an audit, which is an independent assessment by a team of experts.
The experts are expected to provide answers relating to the direct cause of death, contributory factors and any delay that could have taken place.
A Harare woman claims that she had a miscarriage after the gynaecologist gave her medication not suitable for pregnant women.
