Chamisa Says Rule Of Law Is MDC's Second Nature

MDC president Nelson Chamisa said that good governance and the rule of law are second nature to the “beleaguered” political party.

Chamisa was responding to his party colleague, former Education Minister David Coltart who earlier on tweeted castigating MDC-T president Thokozani Khupe for her response to Justice Mushore’s High Court ruling.

Writing on microblogging site Twitter on Monday, Chamisa said:

Good governance and rule of law are second nature to us.

Constitutionalism matters to us in the MDC.

We follow both the party and national constitutions in all our critical resolutions and steps.

All our decisions were and are fully backed by the provisions in the party constitution.

Coltart had earlier slammed Khupe’s response as “more farcical than the reasoning of the judgement itself”. Said Coltart:

Madam Khupe’s response to the judgment of Mushore J is more farcical than the reasoning of the judgment itself. Her claim to be the leader of the very party she opposed in the 2018 election and has vilified since is utterly spurious. Courts cannot create supporters for politicians.

Khupe’s faction has of late received a new lease of life following High Court Judge Justice Mushore’s ruling on Wednesday last week that she is the legitimate president of the MDC following the death of Morgan Tsvangirai.
