PTUZ Snubbed By Govt, Told To Come Through NJNC

The Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) has hit back at the Public Service Commission (PSC) after its request for a meeting was snubbed. PTUZ secretary general Raymond Majongwe had this to say:

We got this letter from the PSC reiterating that we cannot engage them outside the NJNC. This shows government can’t even understand their own laws. The Act and SI 45 of 1998 are clear we can engage the government without the romantic Apex Council.

Below is the letter addressed to PTUZ by the PSC:

The Commission hereby acknowledges receipt of your minute dated 29 April 2019 contents of which have been noted.

Kindly be advised that any issues to deal with conditions of service for any member of the civil service should be directed to the legally established institution of the National Joint Negotiating Council (NJNC). The issues will then be deliberated on at this platform.
