You’re The Problem, Not Protestors – Govt Told

Norton member of Parliament, Temba Mliswa (Independent), has ‘advised’ the government that the biggest national security threats are neither opposition political parties nor civil society organisations (CSOs). He said:

The government should understand that the biggest national security threats are not the opposition or civil society but unemployment, the liquidity crisis, the rampant corruption by an elitist cabal of the politically connected and the poor remuneration for the general person.

These factors push people to protest and demonstrate, it’s natural and logical. The government shouldn’t be taking umbrage at the likelihood of this and threatening heavy-handed retaliation but seeking resolution to the causatives.

Mliswa’s remarks follow the government’s threats against the opposition MDC and CSOs, claiming that it has the intelligence to the effect that there is a plan to overthrow that government.

The government, through the Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage and the police force, has vowed to crush any protest against economic hardships being experienced by the masses.
