Last Working Radiotherapy Machine Broken, Zimbabwe Needs US$53 000 For Repairs

There are reports suggesting that Zimbabwe no longer has any working radiotherapy machine following the breakdown of the last one that was at Parirenyatwa hospital.

Acting CEO Noah Madziva is believed to have said:

With the other 2 machines at Mpilo also down, we currently don’t have a single working machine in the country (public hospitals).

It is also reported that US$53 000 is needed for the machines to be repaired.

The sad development was confirmed by the Ministry of Information, Pucblicity and Broadcasting via its official twitter handle. The post further claimed that the money needed to fix the machines has already been made available. Posting on twitter, the ministry said:

Latest Tecno Pop 8 - now available in Pindula.

$94, Cash on Delivery in Harare & Bulawayo.

WhatsApp: 0783 450 793

Govt has noted reports that Parirenyatwa & Mpilo Hospitals are failing to repair broken down radiotherapy machines due to forex challenges. The US$53 000 needed was availed last week, but the hospitals are failing to transact owing to sanctions restrictions on the banks they use.
