Biti, Ncube & Komichi’s Future Uncertain As MDC Reserves VP Post For A Woman

MDC spokesperson, Jacob Mafume has indicated that the recently held party national council meeting resolved to reserve a Vice President post for a woman. Meanwhile, the meeting never considered reserving a VP post for Matebeleland as was always the norm.

The decision can be the end of the road for Welshman Ncube, Tendai Biti and Komichi. Where there could be three male VPs, now there can only be two and the two are open for both males and females. THis remains very tricky for Matebeleland Privince which is currently represented by Ncube in the race.

Speaking on the resolution however, Mafume said that delegates were aware of the need to maintain a regional balance in the party. He said:

That was never considered, the congress delegates are aware, they have done this election many times.

They are aware of the need to balance out the party and we are confident that they will come up with a position that will make sure that leadership of the party is evenly distributed in terms of the regional considerations.
