WATCH: Home Affairs Minister Speaks On Plot To Overthrow Govt

At a media briefing on Monday, the Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, Cain Mathema, on Monday said the government is aware of a workshop that has been organised by foreign nationals working with Civic Organisations aimed at planning demonstrations aimed at overthrowing the Zanu PF government. He said:

We have received information to the effect that a group of foreign nationals wants to organize a 3-day civic organization workshop in Bulawayo in May 2019.

The main agenda of the workshop is to mobilise and capacitate civic organisations and individuals to stage effective demonstrations and disturbances to overthrow the ZANU PF government.

My ministry has since directed the Commissioner General of Police to put adequate security measures in place to deal with anyone who engages in any form of violence and disturbances.
