Warriors To Receive US$260 000 From CAF

The Zimbabwe national senior men’s football team, the Warriors, will get US$260,000 from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to finance their preparations for 2019 to be hosted by Egypt.

CAF is making payments to all the countries that qualified for the tournament. The payments, however, are from the premiums to be received by each country at the end of the tournament.

According to a Socce24 report, teams that will be eliminated at the group stage will receive a total of US$ 475,000 while the winners will take home US$4.5 million. Runners-up will pocket US$2.5 million, semifinalists US$2.0 million and US$800,000 is for those teams that finished in the quarters.

AFCON 2019 kicks off on June 21 in Cairo. Hosts Egypt will lock horns with the Warriors in the first match at 10 pm local time. The other Group A members are the DRC and Uganda.

The Warriors will have to perform better to earn more money from CAF having never gone beyond the group stages in their three appearances at the tournament.
