6 Safari Holiday Ideas In Zimbabwe

Hey Jungle junkies, its that time of the year again where you get a few days to spend time in the jungle, admiring nature, relaxing, enjoying the quietness. While it may be too late to plan for Easter, which starts on Friday, it’s always good to have information at hand because there is always next time.

So what Safaris can one visit in Zimbabwe?

The Gonarezhou National Park

Turns out Gonarezhou is the least Visited Safari of Zimbabwe even though its Zimbabwe’s second largest National park. It Borders SA’s Kruger National Park and Mozambique’s Limpopo National Park. The park is in the lowveld side of Zimbabwe and it is an animal sanctuary. A holidaymaker will greatly enjoy the activities at Gonarezhou which include game drives and of course my favorite, walking safaris. etc. A stay at the Chilonga Gorge Lodge or Pamushana Lodge will transform an ordinary Safari holiday into an extraordinary safari holiday.

The Famous Hwange National Park

If you are a true Safari warrior you will immensely enjoy Hwange National Park and all its activities. Hwange is home to a staggering 100 mammals the variety that Hwange offers is second to none in this part of Africa in my opinion. The largest in Zimbabwe, Hwange offers activities like day and night game drives, hunting and walking Safaris. There are at least 22 tented lodges, camps, and lodges where you can stay in Hwange. In short, the options are too many for any savvy holidaymaker

Chizarira National Park

The third largest national Park located North of Zimbabwe close to the Zambezi River and a few kilometers away from Kariba. Chizarira like many Safaris, offers very beautiful sceneries, game drives, and walking safaris. Chizarira will be a good adventure to the more adventurous visitors and there is a lodge to stay at The Chizarira Wilderness Lodge.

 Matobo National Park

My personal favorite, Matobo National Park is probably one of the most diverse Safari Holiday a person may go to. The Wildlife and Birdlife, the culture, the geography is just breathtaking. A visitor also has an option to stay at the Matobo Hills Lodge  Bottom line if given an option between any of these Safaris, I would probably pick Matobo.

Mana Pools National Park

Let’s say you are a water activities person, but you also want to experience the jungle, what do you do? Simple you go to Mana Pools. I have been counting down for 3 years till the day I will afford to visit this safari Heaven. Mana Pools is along the mighty Zambezi River located again near Kariba in the Northern Region of Zimbabwe. Water and land activities are the order of the day and you can fly in from Harare, Kariba or Vic falls. During Winter and the dry season ( May to October), tented camps are there and visitors get to enjoy the jungle in a more luxurious style. There are more than 11 accommodation options in Mana Pools you will be spoilt for choice.

Mutisadonha National Park

Probably the closest one to Kariba, Mutisadonha is a beautiful place for the half water half jungle warrior who wants to have it all. One can tour the safari and get to see the famous black rhino and many more animals and still go back and do water activities down in the lake all in one day. Visitors can stay either at the magnificent Bumi Hills or Musango Safari Camp or Spurwing Island. Plenty plus options you will be spoilt for choice.
