Rural Teachers Celebrate 'Red Wednesday'

The Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) has designated Wednesday (today),  “Red Wednesday” as a day to appreciate Zimbabweans from all walks of life who stood in support of the union in December 2018.

Rural teachers walked from Mutare to Harare where they picketed at Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube’s offices, demanding a living wage. In a statement issued on Wednesday, ARTUZ said:

It is a Red Wednesday. Amalgamated Rural Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) salutes Zimbabweans from all walks of life who boldly stood up from December to date demanding a living wage for workers and a decent life for all citizens.

These are our heroes. We call upon the citizens of Zimbabwe to honour our heroes by wearing RED – the international colour of trade unionism. Our heroes deserve a Red Salute.
