The civil servants have said that the salary increament resulting from the $400 allocation is “not enough but it’s something”. They have accepted the deal. Apex Council secretary David Dzatsunga said there will be a need for a further review of the salaries in June 2019.
Said Dzatsunga:
It was favourable enough but like I said there is scope for review in June and we have to work with that, nobody cannot argue with the fact that it’s not enough but it’s something.
We hope that if Government is sincere, if the inflationary pressures that we are seeing now are anything to go by, then there might be need for another sit down so that we can review those figures

This is nothing the gvt was supposed to adjust salaries according to the rate they have pegged rtgs to dollar coz these salaries were denominated in US dollars. The reality is that after this so called ‘cola’ a civil servant who was earning 500USD is now earning a little less than 200USD. And Appex council is content with that! We know their pockets are full as they dine with gvt.
