Bulawayo City Suspends Weekly 72-Hour Water Rationing

Bulawayo City Council announced on Tuesday that it is suspending its weekly 72-hour water rationing schedule.

This comes as the City prepares to host the 2019 Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) from April 23-27 and some reports claim that this could be the reason why water-shedding has been put on hold.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Bulawayo City Council said:

The City of Bulawayo would like to advise consumers that it has temporarily suspended the water shedding programme that was introduced in February 2019.

The suspension is subject to the sustenance of a consumption level of 125 megalitres per day. The current consumption levels are averaging 150 megalitres per day and need to be brought down to the desired average.
