$84 Fine For Stealing Spoon, Knife From Supermarket
A young man from Mkoba 6 suburb in the city of Gweru was fined $84 after he stole a knife and a teaspoon from a local supermarket.
Obert Sibanda (20), pleaded guilty to one count for shoplifting before the magistrate, Ms Beaulity Dube.
In mitigation, Sibanda told the court that he wanted to spread peanut butter on his slices of bread, and did not have the utensils. Said Sibanda:
I stole the kitchen knife and teaspoon because I wanted to cut the bread I had bought and use the teaspoon to spread peanut butter on the bread.
Magistrate Dube fined him $84 failure to which he will be imprisoned for one month.
