PSL Introduces Random Anti-doping Tests

The Premier Soccer will this coming season introduce anti-doping tests in line with global trends.

Speaking at a workshop organised by the PSL for club doctors, Zifa head of medical committee Dr Edward Chagonda said players should be in the know of drugs and substances that are not allowed in anti-doping and sports medicine. Sai Chagonda:

The most important thing is for the players to know what is at law and what is not. So before using a prescription, they should either go to the FIFA website and check on banned substances and drugs or consult their team doctor. This year it’s going to be stiffer because we are going to carry out random tests.

Some of the Premier League players who smoke marijuana (mbanje) are likely to fall short on the tests.

Doping means athletes taking illegal substances to improve their performances.
