The South African government has dispatched a 12 member rescue team to assist local teams in the search of missing people in Chimanimani following the destruction caused by Cyclone Idai.
The team called “Gift of Givers” which includes members of the South Africa Police Service (SAPS) arrived in Harare today and will be in the country for the next 5 days. The team was welcomed by South African Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mphakama Mbete. The team was dispatched following a request made by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Retired Lieutenant General Sibusiso Moyo.
The Gift of Givers brought a truck load of humanitarian assistance and four sniffer dogs to lead the search of missing persons. The team will collaborate with Econet’s Higher Life Foundation revealed team leader Justin Colbert.
