WATCH: Chimanimani’s Bridal Veil Falls Intact & Undamaged After Cyclone Idai

There were reports claiming that the impressive Bridal Veil Falls in Chimanimani had been destroyed by flash floods induced by Tropical Cyclone Idai.

It has since been established that the Falls are intact, the only noticeable change is that the plunge pool is way bigger and the water is now cascading from the cliff in higher volumes.

There has been much speculation about Chimanimani’s glorious Bridal Veil Falls. Some said it had been totally destroyed. I have just received the following video which shows, thank God, that it hasn’t been destroyed. Although there is tremendous damage to the lawns downstream and to some of the vegetation either side of the Falls, you will see that the beautiful falls themselves have survived this deluge. We will need to rebuild the gardens and that we will do. This is one of Zimbabwe’s most beautiful sites and we must restore this treasure.

  1. Also noticeable is that virtually all the trees and vegetation which were there have been swept away, replaced with many large rocks and a massive boulder.
