Tendayi Darikwa Dedicates Warriors Win To Cyclone Idai Victims

Warriors and Nottingham Forest defender Tendayi Darikwa dedicated the 2-0 win over Congo to the victims of the Cyclone Idai.

The Warriors won courtesy of strikes from Khama Billiat and captain Knowledge Musona who shook off an injury to feature in the match.

Darikwa, who became the first Zimbabwean born in England to feature to for the national team, said:

I want to say thank you to the people of Zimbabwe, they came out today and unfortunately, there are some who couldn’t make it and to all the people who were affected by the cyclone, this is for them. Our hearts are with them.

The fullback was thrilled by the team’s qualification for the 2019 AFCON finals, having joined the qualifiers during the later stages. Said Darikwa:

This is an amazing feeling. I will remember this for the rest of my life. The supporters today were brilliant, the atmosphere in the stadium was fantastic, I have never experienced this in my career.

I was also impressed with the team, the players… with the amount of pressure that was there, to go out there and score two goals in the first half in front of a full stadium, I think we deserve it.
