The government has announced that it’s withdrawing it’s warning on Saturday that Manyera dam was at risk of bursting its wall. The dam, Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting said, is structurally safe:
GOOD NEWS We have been informed that checks by engineers have confirmed that both Witchood and Manyera Dam are structurally safe. The earlier cautionary announcement is withdrawn. We thank the agencies for acting on this in a timely manner and avoided unnecessary disruption
Government has been criticised for not having prepared adequately for Cyclone Idai even after several warnings to meteorologists.
