PTUZ Urges Govt To Suspend School Activities In Tropical Idai Affected Areas

The Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe secretary-general Raymond Majongwe has called on the government to suspend school activities in areas that have been badly hit by Tropical Cyclone Idai. Said Majongwe:

The PTUZ requests the government to suspend all school activities in the Cyclone ldai hit areas. Devastated schools that have lost kids and buildings need time to recover. We also note some of the buildings are now very old putting kids at very high risk.

Some districts in Manicaland Province, particularly Chimanimani and Chipinge, as well as parts of Masvingo province have been badly affected by the cyclone.

31 people have been confirmed dead due to the weather hazard and scores are missing.
