MDC youth assembly chairperson Happymore Chidziva says the party organ will not block anyone from contesting party president Nelson Chamisa for the top post but was firmly behind his leadership.
In an interview with NewZimbawe.com, Chidziva said:
As the youth assembly, we are 100 per cent behind the candidature of president Nelson Chamisa and no one will be barred from contesting.
It’s not like we are barring anyone from contesting President Chamisa. We are strategically deploying him to be the leader of the movement.
MDC will hold an elective Congress on 24-26 May this year.
Secretary general Douglas Mwonzora is thought to be seriously considering challenging Chamisa for the presidency.
