Mwonzora Responds To Zanu-PF Youth Leader's 'Endorsement'

MDC secretary general Douglas Mwonzora has responded to Zanu-PF youth leader Lewis Matutu that he is likely to beat the current popular leader, Nelson Chamisa at the opposition party’s Congress scheduled for May 24-26.

Mwonzora said he does not have Zanu-PF’s support. He said Matutu was just giving his opinion but it does not mean he supports him. Said Mwonzora:

But let me come to why they are saying Zanu-PF prefers me. And I want to quote two tweets. The first tweet was by a person called Lewis Matutu. I have gone to research to that after these accusations. And Matutu says in answer to something which Mr Chalton Hwende had said. Matutu says ‘I think Mwonzora will win’. Now when someone says ‘I think Mwonzora will win’ does that mean they support that person? I will give you an example Larry, I am a Liverpool supporter but when Roma is playing Juventus I can predict the score, I can say  ‘Juventus may win’ that does not mean I support Juventus. But most importantly Mr Matutu was then questioned by people on that platform and he said and I quote ‘I hate both Douglas Mwonzora and Nelson Chamisa’ end of quote. Now tell me that is a person who prefers Mwonzora? Certainly not.
