'Bambo' Chunga Demands That Warriors Avenge Congo Humiliation Of 1991

Former Warriors utility player Moses ‘Bambo’ Chunga still feels the pain when the then ‘Dream Team’ hopes of qualifying for a maiden Africa Cup of Nations were shattered by Congo in 1991.

Speaking to The Sunday Mail, Bambo urged the current crop of Warriors to avenge the defeat suffered 28 years ago. He said:

This time Congo should feel the same way we felt back in 1991.

In fact, it’s wrong for us to say we need a draw, we do not need just a point but an outright and emphatic win.

This is not just an ordinary qualifier, there is history attached to this fixture.

This is the same national team that caused us unimaginable pain 28 years ago and this time they should pay for it.

Zimbabwe is set to play Congo in Harare on March 24 in the final match of the 2019 AFCON qualifiers. A draw will be enough to guarantee the Warrior’s participation in Egypt where the finals will be held between June 21 and July 19.
