A Bulawayo illegal money dealer lot huge sums of cash to armed robbers in the CBD on Monday Night.
The dealer who was identified as Joseph Karimazondo (34), lost both cash and the BMW vehicle when three gun-toting men clad in balaclavas pounced on him.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Chief Inspector Precious Simango on Tuesday confirmed the incident. She said:
We are investigating an armed robbery which occurred at some flats near the city centre.
The victim who is an illegal money changer lost R80 000, US$5000 and $8 000 bonds. We strongly appeal to members of the public to avoid travelling around with large sums of money as this makes them targets for criminals.
The police urged members of the public who may have information which may lead to the robbers’ arrest to come forward.
