Earlier today, an amateur video of a soldier assaulting 3 women went viral. The video shows evidence that there was (and may still be) abuse of ordinary citizens by the military as part of the crackdown that started on the night of 14 January 2019.
Here are some of the notable reactions made by Zimbabweans on Twitter:
ED Pfee says our mothers should go & report these security services to security services – All Things Zim
Women with children getting attacked by soldiers that are supposed to protect them, and men being treated like animals = The new dispensation. Journalists report these atrocities & they are accused of being part of an international conspiracy against ED. This is indefensible. – Makomborero Haruzivishe
New Dispensation. Second Republic. Let its supporters come and ululate. Living up to the warning that it was a foretaste of things to come. Wotonzwa vanhu vachiti Europe this and Europe that, when the evidence is glaring like this! – Hopewell Chin’ono

Before anyone gets excited about being appointed to a Presidential Advisory Council, it is this thuggery that must be addressed and condemned by anyone who has even a little bit of a conscience. – Dr Noah Manyika
@, please advise fellow journos how to cleverly narrate what is happening here so that we can patriotically give a good image of our country to the outside world?
A military that terrorises innocent civilians for no reason apart from fact that they can.Robert Mugabe was ruthless & had to replaced but Zimbabwe has jumped into a frying pan. What upsets is that ED won’t apologise for these human rights abuses by defence forces.# – Kelvin Mupungu
These women and children and these men have done nothing wrong. The courage of the person behind this camera, exposes the true creed of Zimbabwe when freedom has become the only objective. President Chamisa @ will end this once and for all # – Dr Nkululeko Sibanda
