Economic Commentator and former MDC legislator Eddie Cross say that President Emmerson Mnangagwa got it all wrong in the past few days. Cross identified five major blunders that Mnangagwa’s administration made;
1. Mnangagwa announced a raft of measures, the major highlight being to increase the price of fuel, making Zimbabwean fuel the most expensive in the world.
2. Mnangagwa left Zimbabwe for Eurasia in a leased Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft headed for Moscow. What on earth was he doing in Moscow?
3. He failed to rotate the Acting Presidency between Chiwenga and Mohadi, leaving the former in sole charge.
4. The call on Sunday by the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) supported by Civil Servants for a nationwide strike was therefore inevitable.
5. Mnangagwa’s somersault, that a system of rebates will be introduced to soften the impact of the massive fuel price rise.
