The government intends to generate foreign currency by exporting unemployed graduates to South Sudan. Being Africa’s newest state, South Sudan is a very poor country, having got independence from Sudan a few years ago.
The government has already registered 16 000 graduates under a scheme to export labour. In an interview with state media on Monday, Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Minister Professor Amon Murwira said Government in 2019 wants to finalise the exportation of labour programme with South Sudan. Said Murwirwa
During innovation Africa, I had the privilege of meeting my counterpart, Minister of Higher Education from South Sudan, in order to learn at which stage we were (in regards to the exportation of labour). But I then learnt that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was not finalised. And we are going to finalise the MoU as we enter 2019.
In Zimbabwe, we pride ourselves for being very literate. We discovered that we have to up our skills but we know that we are better off in this area. It must be seen through foreign currency inflows using education.
… What that means is that we are going to work very hard to make sure agreements with South Sudan for example among others is finalised so that we can begin the exportation of our graduates.
South Africa also has unemployed graduates.Where are they gonna put Zim graduates? Are they really graduates not what we once saw some years back?
How do you register,I want to go also
Bayehluleka: He is saying South Sudan some poor country up North close to Ethiopia not South Africa our lovely genorous neighbours who have fed us and given us jobs whilst our own resources are being misused. It looks like they are introducing the slave trade so they can increase they foreign currency earnings to use it on themselves. Why on earth will you export human beings????? Zimbabwe is in a 1000% better state than South Sudan. Why would a country poorer than Zimbabwe be able to create jobs and Zimbabwe fail to do the same.
But what is a plan for south Sudan graduate who are loitering in the streets in south Sudan?
It’s a sad state of affairs. Very shameful.
South Sudan ministry of education may literary accepts this at own risk of their citizens, Where is job in south Sudan? South Sudanese leaders need to think twice before signing ugly MoU with any country, betraying its’ citizens. The leaderships in south Sudan May need to create jobs to millions of unemployed graduates within the country , I regret to see our country is going to wrong direction. The issues of south sudan are still numerous need solution but not additional destruction. We have good educated south sudanese within and abroad, the chance have to be given for them
