Govt Is Yet To Fork A Single Cent For Cabinet Ministers' Cars: Finance Ministry Perm Sec

The permanent secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, George Guvamatanga said that the government has not yet bought cars for cabinet ministers. The denial follows media reports that the government has bought top of the range cars for ministers.

Guvamatanga has however said that is not so.

Treasury is yet to fork out a single cent for the vehicles of the cabinet ministers. We have always maintained that when conditions improve that is when we will consider that.

Deputy Minister for Information and Broadcasting Energy Mutodi had this to say

We are conscious of the fact that ministers need cars but we can’t purchase vehicles when people are suffering. That is why the government stopped buying vehicles for parliamentarians to channel resources towards fighting the cholera epidemic.
