War Veterans' Call To Raise Presidential Age Limit Meant To Distract Zimbos From Economic Catastrophe- Mwonzora

MDC secretary general Douglasd Mwonzora said the call by the Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) to raise the minimum age for presidential aspirants to 52 is meant to distract the nation from the economic catastrophe.

Yesterday, ZNLWVA secretary general Victor Matemadanda moved a motion ahead of the Zanu PF annual national people’s conference to have the ruling party use its supermajority in Parliament to raise the minimum age for presidential aspirants from the current 40 years to 52. However, Mwonzora said the people of Zimbabwe voted for the current minimum age limit in 2013, Said Mwonzora:

The statement by war veterans that they want to agitate for a change in the presidential age limit is designed to distract the nation from the economic catastrophe. Zimbabweans in an overwhelming referendum vote in 2013 set the age limit at 40. Simple!
