Govt Quiet On Civil Servants’ Bonuses As Festive Season Approaches

The government failed to pay its workers their 2018 bonuses as expected. Normally civil servants get their 13th paycheck in November, as a ‘thank you’ for the work they do. However, in the past few years, the government has failed to award bonuses ‘on time’. The payments have been staggered over a period of six months, with some workers getting their bonuses as late as June the following year. Asked about why the nurses could not get their bonuses this month, Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa reportedly said

I will give you that information later. We (Cabinet) deliberated on many things but I cannot share more than what I already have on what we discussed today.
