Locally-Based Warriors Leave For Monrovia, Liberia

Locally-based members of the Zimbabwe national soccer team, the Warriors, has left the country for Monrovia ahead of Sunday’s 2019 AFCON qualifier match against Liberia at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex. Warriors team Manager, Wellington Mpandare said the team will pass through South Africa, Kenya and Sierra Leone and will arrive in Liberia tomorrow afternoon.

Mpandare disclosed that other team members from South Africa, Tanzania, Belgium and England will fly from their bases tomorrow morning and are expected to join their teammates later in the day. He also said the first training session will be held later tomorrow. The Warriors will use the next few days before the match to acclimatise to the hot and humid conditions of tropical Africa. A win in Liberia will guarantee the Warriors’ place at next year’s  AFCON finals.
