Hwange Colliery Administrator Does Not Have A Contract, Acting On Verbal Agreement
Hwange Colliery Company administrator Bekithemba Moyo of DBF Capital told a Parliamentary committee on Monday he was acting on the verbal agreement he has with minister Winston Chitando and the gazette instruction.
Said Moyo:
We had a discussion with the minister and it was gazetted. That is where I derive my power from.
FeedbackHe also declined to discuss his pay for the job saying, “We haven’t finalized on how much we would be paid but it will be in terms of the law.” Government, which owns 38 percent of Hwange Colliery, last month placed firm under reconstruction; a decision which angered board members and other shareholders who were not consulted. Government alleges it is owed over $150 million by Hwange Colliery.
